MOUNTAIN ASH A native to Northeast United States, this deciduous, oval-leafed ornamental tree grows to a mature height of 40’ and displays a graceful, open canopy. Prefers acidic, well-drained loamy soils.The tree blossoms with a 1/3” white flower in May which gives way to a cluster of small orange-red berry-like fruit in late September into October. Berries remain on tree all winter. After the first winter freeze, the berries are edible raw or cooked, used for pies and jellies.
